Exotic Flowers (a series)

Being in the Flower Business, we have become impressed over the years by the amazing variety of flowers, both in shape and color.

Here are three examples of something so wild and beautiful that we wonder if they are even available outside of Frankenstein's lab.

In fact, we are still researching the names of these wonders!  But hey, that's the fun part, eh?  Couple of hours to kill, some chai tea and Google, and one can learn just about anything about anywho.

Orchids are famous for evolving into strange and menacing shapes, at least that is if you are a curious insect.  The islands of Hawaii have orchids growing all over the place, like weeds.  Rumor has it that on the Big Island, a retired airline captain loved one particular variety of orchid so much that he regularly rented a small plane and literally threw many thousands of seeds outside over the landscape.  This variety is, as you would expect, quite commonplace.

Imagine if you would, the wonderful world of flowers, if you are a pollinating insect.  It's like DisneyLand every day!  All those colors, all those tastes, all those other insects drunk with nectar!  Someone call a cop -

Of course, you don't need to, all those marauding eight legged dew gatherers are harmless.  Well, after they eat, you might call them that.  Before:?  Watch out!

We do hope to bring you many fine images from the web regarding the absolute plethora of flower varieties,  hopefully some you may not have ever seen.

Don't let the black orchid cloners have all the fun - tune into Dellables and see what the latest creation is.

It's fun, it's educational, and it is LOW CALORIE BABY!!!

Brides & Butterflies

What could be more exciting than to have Butterflies land on your Bouquet?
The upcountry folks at Merry Monarch Butterflies can make this a reality any day you wish.

Monarch butterflies are well known, but perhaps not so much a favorite King of Hawaii, David Kalakaua - known affectionately as Hawaii's Merry Monarch.

You might wonder how they keep the little critters so close, and I can tell you, their Butterfly Training Facilities are quite impressive indeed!

The aisle way we did for this beach side wedding on the South side of Maui at the beautiful 11 acre estate at Honua Kai Lani. The Bride requested three colors of Orchids down the aisle: orange, yellow and white. Wow! That was quite a production, but her vision really paid off in grand style indeed.

The Bride, and her Bridesmaids struck quite the pose in this classic photo by Kaua Photography.
After the stress of planning such a wedding ON HER OWN, this local girl was ready to party and kick it up a bit.

The weather was typical perfect Maui, and right during the nuptials whales were leaping and splashing only a few dozen yards off shore. Amazing!

Glass, Water & Flowers

These 14 inch wide, 5 inch tall vases were absolutely PERFECT for a low slung table arrangement. The Bride wanted to avoid placing anything in between her guests at the tables, so she commissioned these from

The Bride's Mom really liked the idea of submerged glass beads with backlighting and didn't want to have them hidden with flower stems.

So, Della devised a clever method of suspending the ORCHIDS in a false roof at the top of the vase.
The look was a big hit with the Wedding Guests, and it could be for YOU TOO!
