Ganda and Chris were married at Polo Beach in Wailea, enjoyed their reception at Gannon’s Wailea and later that evening we met up for a sunset session at Kapalua Bay. What beautiful wedding! Jocelyn's Monday Report #7

Blog 7

There was nothing like waking up in Maui.  The birds were happily chirping, the sun was brightly beaming, and the waves were peacefully crashing.  Our second day there was a super exciting day.  We were going to view our ceremony site and meet our wedding planner and florist for the first time.   In the late morning after a nice breakfast, Fred and I headed back to the Wailea Golf Course, home of Molokini Lookout, our top ceremony location contender. We were instructed to head to the top of the hill where we would follow Cherise, our wedding planner, down the private gated road to the space.
I found Cherise online after weeks of frantically researching Maui planners who had to meet the following criteria: 1. Friendly, 2. Professional, 3. Organized, 4. Knowledgeable 5. Reasonably Priced and 6. Tolerant.    Tolerant was definitely crucial given how indecisive I, not to mention my family, can be.  We needed our planner to roll with the punches and be ready for any random changes that may occur.  Cherise was all we asked for and more.
When we pulled up to the venue, Cherise introduced herself, and I remember thinking what a sweet spirit she was.  As we began walking up to Molokini Lookout, my breath was simply taken away.  The utter seclusion and panoramic view was unlike anything I had ever experienced.  Fred and I knew it was absolutely perfect for our ceremony.  I imagined the view of the Pacific Ocean and nearby mountains serving as the backdrop for our vows, and it made me so happy.   I couldn’t believe I would have to wait an entire year to come back to this space.
Molokini Lookout
After our viewing of Molokini Lookout, we headed back down the hill to Gannon’s to discuss further details and meet our florist Della.  Meeting Della was like meeting an old pal or even a family member.  We immediately felt so comfortable with her as if we had known her for years.  She was filled with joy and creativity and was so funny she kept me laughing.   She was just fantastic.
This was probably one of the most laid-back event planning meetings I have ever encountered.  Before we came to Maui, I pulled together several inspiration boards with ideas for the color palette and theme of the wedding which I themed “tropical bohemian elegance.”  Cherise and Della totally got my vision from day one.  We laughed. We discussed décor ideas. We talked about design and colors, and we decided then and there that we were working together.  Done, done, done and done.

Leaving that meeting, I definitely knew I had the right team -- my Dream Team -- that was going to give us the wedding we always dreamed of.  We just had to pick a hotel now to complete our site visit, and we still had quite a few to see with only one more day on the island.

We had a blast working with everyone involved on a day that had not only perfect Hawaiian weather, but lots of spectacular flowers.  A Bohemian Hippie Chic description is great, but the pictures that follow tell it best!

Gannon’s Maui Wedding | Amanda & Marc

Monday, November 15, 2010

Gannon’s restaurant is always a great venue, and the wedding of Amanda and Marc was no exception.  With a beautifully lit ceremony on the lower lawn, a dinner reception on the upper pond, and a chance to slip away for beach portraits, we were surrounded by beauty throughout the day.  Lori Lawrence of Tropical Maui Weddings did an excellent job, once again, in making sure everything went smoothly throughout the day. Della from Dellables created a beautiful bouquet for Amanda.  Jamie Lawrence serenaded everyone which is always a lovely touch. The staff at Gannon’s provided excellent service to the guests. All in all, the entire day was wonderful.  Thanks to Shaina Kalama for always being such a big help to me. Amanda and Marc, we are so happy for the two of you! Congratulations!

Matt & Diana ~ Gannons Wailea Wedding

Sunday, October 31, 2010

I know that I have been slacking on my blog lately! It has been quite a crazy month! I have so many wonderful weddings to share.. November is the month to get caught up.
Last month I had the pleasure of working with Matt & Diana on their special day. Diana got ready at the beautiful Sheraton Kaanapali. When we arrived she had all the details ready for us. She had her hair styled by Mira a bit earlier at the Four Seasons, Wailea. She wore an elegant Pronovias gown and rock BCBGstilettos. I loved the vibrant bouquets made by Della Peacock of Dellables.
After getting dressed we headed to Gannon’s for the Ceremony. I love Gannons! It has to be one of my favorite locations. The light is always brilliant and the trees add such a nice element.
As the ceremony began, Matt stood at the alter waiting to see his exquisite bride for the first time. The look on his face as her dad escorted her down the isle was a perfect mix of excitement & joy. They were surrounded by an lovely group of family and friends as they said their I do’s.
After the ceremony we headed to Po’olenalena for a few sunset portraits. We could not have asked for a better sunset.. the evening was calm with beautiful colors lighting up the sky.
After sunset we headed back to Gannon’s for their reception dinner. The Upper Pond at Gannons is the perfect location for a small, intimate dinner with you close family and friends. The food was delicious. The evening ended with a fun cake cutting and a bit of dancing.
Congratulations Matt & Diana! I am so happy we were able to capture your day.. We wish you the best in your new life as husband and wife!

Silver Service

Silver.  Service.

On October 8th I had the wonderful pleasure of working with Lee Ann and Jamie.  Having shared their dream for over a year it was so much fun to see it all come together.  I really do find myself honored to have been a part of their wedding.

Their reception was hosted at Gannon's Wailea with the help of Miss America Salinas.

Days like these are what make working at Dellables such a personal pleasure.

Here you can see how the decor from the Keawala'i Church (on the beach in Makena) moved to the reception at Gannon's outside dining (in Wailea) and made the moment in both places.

Sunken Treasure

This is a sunken treasure that might escape the attention of Captain Jack Sparrow, but not the eyes of the admiring guests and bridal party.  Lori at Tropical Maui Weddings arranged with Gannons and Dellables to showcase something quite beyond gold.

~ Orchids under the sea, captured in  glass, sprinkled with crystals ~

Gannons has more than just a view of the sunbathed ocean.  They sit beneath the majestic uplands of Haleakala, manicured like a garden, surrounded by lush golf celebrations.  And, they have Miss America Salinas, probably the nicest person in the entire Maui wedding industry.  She can help with you with all things related to your wedding activities at Gannons.

Of course, where there is sunken treasure the sea cannot be much farther.  All the more special for its fragile beauty this is something even a pirate would love to have.

Aloha ~

Gannon’s, Wailea | Amanda & Clint

Wednesday, August 11, 2010
The wedding of Amanda and Clint took place at the lovely Gannon’s Restaurant in Wailea, Maui.  Amanda was quite radiant and happy on her wedding day. The couple had their “first look” before the ceremony and shared a very special moment.  Their love was wonderful to witness!  After some photos around the beautiful grounds, the couple was married down on the lower knoll at Gannon’s which has the most breathtaking view.  We then headed down to Poolenalena beach for a sunset photo session.  Guests enjoyed cocktails during sunset back at Gannon’s and warmly greeted the couple as they entered the reception.
Amanda & Clint – congratulations on your marriage! Thank you for having us there to capture your beautiful day.
Much thanks to Anna Kim for assisting me.
